Internationally-renowned Cuban pianist Miguel de Armas moved to Canada in 2011, bringing with him a rich and sophisticated musical heritage gleaned over many years of study, performance and composition.  As a co-founder of N.G. La Banda — one of Cuba’s most legendary timba bands — de Armas packed concert halls around the world.

Under the leadership of Miguel and featuring Marc Decho on bass, Michel Medrano on drums and Diomer González on congas, The Miguel de Armas Quartet was created in 2013; since then, it has rocked the National Capital Region with its astounding musicianship and thrilling fusion of Jazz and Afro Cuban music.

This band has demonstrated masterful, independent yet collaborative playing, with an articulate, impassioned and powerful synchronicity. An uplifting, dynamic presence on stage, the Miguel de Armas Quartet brings energy, joy, and enthusiasm to audiences everywhere.

“Continuous” is a continuation of Miguel’s musical journey that started almost a decade ago, when he moved to Canada: stories of love, immigration, long winters, and how to remain happy.

“Continuous” was released on May 21, 2021. Buy “Continuous” on Bandcamp to best support the artist. You can also buy/listen on Apple Music, and Spotify.

 Miguel de Armas

“Each of the musicians – who help set up a thunderous rhythmic wall, no less – are completely attuned to the leader’s vision and artistry and you cannot praise each of them enough for their spirited performances. Bassist Marc Decho makes an extra-special contribution in the form of a heartfelt tribute to the legendary Bebo Valdés. The bassist’s “Song for Bebo” may be the apogee of this eloquent and artfully produced music.”
